Born in London in 1951, Karen started painting when she was 12 years old. She studied Fine Art at St. Martin’s School of Art, London in 1969 and later went to Nottingham to learn Film & Photography at Trent Polytechnic.
Through the journey from the figurative form to the abstract, and back again Karen Lixenberg’s work has developed both dynamically and structurally. The main concerns have always been of a spacial, emotional and dynamic nature – peeling back layers to reveal what lies beneath or through the apparent, with the use or colour – form – and concept essentially working together to stimulate the perceptive abilities of the viewer.
Beyond all this lies the sheer love of line, colour and form.
All paintings are oil on canvas.
